It’s Memorial Day weekend, and that means an extra day off here in the U.S. of America. It also means parades. But sadly, budget cuts mean you likely won’t be getting the obligatory flyover this
year. Thankfully, game companies like Aspyr and Feral Interactive are giving the economy a boost by offering great OS X game sales.

It seems ironic to seek military action on Memorial Day, but irony is not match for Aspyr’s Call of Duty: Black Ops sale. This weekend, you get 50% off the game and its DLC:

Iron Man 3: The Official Game – You are Iron Man [Review]

May 2nd, 2013 10 Comments »

image[4]

Ever dream of being Iron Man – flying through the air dodging missiles, and blasting guys in laser suits? Now you can on your iPhone!

Iron Man 3 – The Official Game is an endless flyer with plenty of enemies to shoot, attacks to dodge, and obstacles, like jets, trucks, and billboards to avoid. There are also daily boss battles, which start after you fly a required distance; you’re rewarded with ISO-8 when you beat them. You’ll also collect Stark Credits by flying into them, destroying enemies and completing missions. And after each flight you’ll earn XP. You’ll be using these currencies to unlock and build suits and upgrading them.

Remember to avoid the EMPs! And tap or swipe to blast the drones from the sky.

Remember to avoid the EMPs! And tap or swipe to blast the drones from the sky.

All 18 Iron Man suits look great in the menu, and during play. Although, precisely controlling their movement with either tilt or touch is not so great. This isn’t an issue most of the time, but when you need to avoid a street of full of trucks or a sky full of missiles, you’ll wish you had that precision. However, shooting enemies is really simple. Each of your swipes and taps will yield satisfying results.

How come Iron Man is always fighting a guy in a suit?

How come Iron Man is always fighting a guy in a suit?

One thing that annoys me is I have to spend XP or ISO-8 to unlock a suit, and then I have to spend Stark Credits to build it. This means if I don’t spend my real money, I’m going to have to play for hours and hours gathering XP or ISO-8 to unlock a suit, only to realize I have to play for a few more hours to earn enough Stark Credits to build it. Also, I’m sorry to report that Robert Downy Jr. is not in the game, and it just doesn’t feel right without him.

7000 Stark Credits! But I just spent 6000 XP unlocking it :(

Iron Man 3 – The Official Game is a lot of fun, and if you like Iron Man or action packed endless flyers, it’s definitely worth your time. You can download Iron Man 3 for free from the App Store here. Then, let us know which Iron Man suit you love the most, and if you’ll be spending your time or money to get it.

I think Become a Pickup Artist for iOS is a zombie game

class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-116185" alt="Become a Pickup Artist" src="http://www.technologytell.com/apple/files/2013/04/becomeapickupartist.jpg" width="480" height="320">

Chouquette Games doesn’t bill Become a Pickup Artist as a zombie game. They say it’s “… an indispensable tool for any guy that wants to step-up their game and have their pick of beautiful
women,” but they’re talking about zombies, right? Zombies buying drinks for zombies wanting drinks? One of whom is named Nick?

Quite honestly, I’m not entirely sure what this is about, which is why I’m posting it…I want you to help me understand. Apparently there’s a fellow named Nick Savoy, who’s a “pickup artist
extraordinaire,” and who has developed a legendary Love Systems method. This game is developed around his system, if it’s really a game. You play as Luke, and you’re unlucky in love, and with
Become a Pickup Artist you “… learn how to attract and interact with gorgeous women by testing their dating skills against a virtual collection of flirty femmes. Follow Luke’s journey…

Apple’s Free App of the Week: Puzzle Game Take It Easy

April 18th, 2013 10 Comments »

Screen Shot 2013 04 18 at 1 02 58 PM

This week’s free App of the Week pick from iTunes is the puzzle game Take It Easy. Regularly priced at $0.99, this game was released last February, a digital version of the classic board game.

It’s a puzzle, it’s a brain teaser and it’s a game! It’s all three and much more! It is bingo with strategy! Place your pieces one at a time on the board. To score points, try to form continuous rows of the same color from edge to edge. But one wrong tile and the whole row is worthless. It gets harder as the number of empty spaces on your board, and your possible choices, diminish. Because once a tile is placed, it can’t be moved!

There are three game modes and you can play locally or online multiplayer against people from around the world via Game Center. The game includes full Retina support and recently received an update to support the iPhone 5 and fifth generation iPod touch.

Pebble v1.9 Firmware Update Adds New Watch Faces, Snake Game

March 22nd, 2013 10 Comments »

Pebble has updated its smartwatch to v1.9, which aims to bring an improved user interface, new watchfaces and enhanced ambient light detection. Alongside this welcome improvement, the update also brings the classic game of Snake as one of its watch faces.

Pebble-firmware-update
Users can choose from different watchfaces by pressing the right top and bottom (up and down) buttons, so you don’t have to browse through a menu to locate them.

Also with this update watchfaces are at the bottom of the window stack, so if you keep pressing the back button from anywhere inside Pebble’s menus, you will see your previously displayed watchface, the Pebble blog notes.

Our Pebble froze during the update, so we needed to perform a hard reset. This can be done by holding down the middle button for more than 10 seconds.

With this update, we tend to think that the Pebble team prepares users for the avalanche of watchfaces, as the Pebble SDK is due in the second week of April.
